Razor Soft

by Danielle Vogel

language is loud.we make it beautiful anyway.

a siren learns the names of every streetand forgets them on purpose.

you ask where the quiet went —it is here, folded into the mouthlike a note passed in class.

we are not soft because we yield.we are soft the way a razor is softin the dark, waiting to be found.

say the word gently.say it like a window opening.
